鬼才という敬称に最も相応しい伝説のプロデューサー／作曲家マシュー・ハーバートが、シンガーでありマルチ・インストゥルメンタリストでもあるモモコ・ギルのライブ・ヴォーカルをフィーチャーし、Hebert＆Momokoとしてのコラボ・アルバム「Clay」からの楽曲も披露する、特別なバージョンとしてDJセットをお届けする。

マシュー・ハーバートのダンス・ミュージックへの貢献は計り知れない。
DoctorRockit、Wishmountain、Radio Boy、Herbertのいずれの別名でも、彼はエレクトロニック・ミュージックのプロダクションとパフォーマンスへのアプローチにおいて、一貫してルールブックを塗り替えてきた。
1998年のディープ・ハウス・ロング・プレイヤー「『Around The House』」は、家庭内の物を音世界として使用し、ジャズを基調としたハウス・ミュージックのベンチマークとなったが、ハーバートが時代の流れを掌握し、決定的な作品「Bodily Functions」を制作したのは2001年のことだった。
クインシー・ジョーンズ、エンニオ・モリコーネ、セルジュ・ゲンスブール、ビョーク、デペッシュ・モード、モロコなど、象徴的で多様なアーティストのためのハーバートの有名なリミックス（300以上）は、30年にわたる45枚以上のアルバムや数え切れないほどのシングルのトラックとともに、彼のDJセットの定番となっている。

Momoko Gill
独学でドラムと作曲を学んだモモコ・ギルは、サウス・ロンドンの様々なジャンルの音楽シーンで歯を食いしばり、新しい挑戦を受け入れ、コビー・セイ、ティルザ、アラバスター・デプルームらとコラボレートしてきた。
ドラムとヴォーカルを得意とするギルだが、詩人／ラッパーのナディーム・ディン・ガビシと組んだ2024年のEP『An Alien Called Harmony』では、マルチ・インストゥルメンタルの才能を存分に発揮。

Matthew Herbert’s contribution to dance music can’t be understated.Whether it’s his Doctor Rockit, Wishmountain, Radio Boy or Herbertaliases he’s consistently re-written the rule book in his approach toelectronic music production and performance. 1998’s deep house long-player “’Around The House’ used domestic objects as it’s sound world andset a benchmark in jazz tinged house music, but it was in 2001 thatHerbert would commandeer the zeitgeist and produce a defining work:‘Bodily Functions’ – featuring sounds generated by manipulating humanhair and skin as well as internal bodily organs and the sounds of laser eyesurgery.

Herbert’s renowned remixes (more than 300) for iconic and diverse artistsinclude Quincy Jones, Ennio Morricone, Serge Gainsbourg, Bjork, DepecheMode, and Moloko and are a regular staple of his DJ sets, alongside tracksfrom his more than 45 albums and countless singles spanning threedecades.

Momoko Gill
Self-taught in drums and composition, Momoko Gillcut her teeth in SouthLondon’s multi-disciplinary music scene, embracing new challenges andcollaborating with the likes of Coby Sey, Tirzah and Alabaster DePlume.Although drums and vocals are her mediums of choice, Gill’s multi-instrumental talents were on full show on 2024’s EP as An Alien CalledHarmony with poet/rapper Nadeem Din-Gabisi, and she continues to honeher style in the frictions between genres.
